Spring is recital season! Getting through your most important performances, believe it or not, requires more than just practice. Proper nutrition, rest, and mental and emotional wellness are key factors in maximizing the effectiveness of your hard work. So, over the next few days we will be sharing some drink recipes that should help you to energize, focus, relax, and replenish throughout this busy season. This first recipe features a delicious green smoothie that we think will give you balanced energy for your next lesson.

Whether you are teaching or being taught, even a short music lesson can be exhausting. This smoothie will give you the nutrition and energy necessary to get the most out of your time in the studio, without being interrupted by a grumbling stomach. The base of banana and almond milk offer good vitamins, minerals, and healthy fuel to endure physically. The honey and matcha powder have been shown to support focus and alertness, and the fresh romaine lettuce contains nutrients that can help lift your mood and attitude. (Oh ya, and it tastes really good.) Energize yourself with this cold smoothie as a breakfast or snack the day of your lesson. Ingredients and recipe are listed below the video:

  • 1/2 cup freshly chopped romaine lettuce

  • 1 cup chilled almond milk
